Twatter

So there's me - eager to find out about this exciting new buzz-word that's recently been added to the 'social networking' agenda. These days, if the media are talking about social networking, they are likely to mention Facebook. They are also likely to mention two others. Myspace (which seems to be mentioned less and less. Is this the end for My space? or has it carved its own niche for things such as music, and err.. music. Myspace. The musicians portal. Great maybe, but if you're not a musician, would you go there??? I guess if you are looking out for a particular band, you might. But what if they are Facebook too? Are you more likely to go there??? Probably. So this is the end of Myspace. And this is also the longest piece ever to be written in brackets (or crucifixes or whatever they call them in America). Now I 'm in real trouble. See I opened another set of parenthesises inside another set - and that's always confusing. What do i do now??? (create another set maybe, if that's an option).... ))))).

Enough already. Twitter. As curiosity got the better of me (at the same time as the feeling of not wanting to sign up) I pecked my way over to YouTube (pecked being the style of typing used) and watched the demo.

Well, as if Facebook wasn't enough, i can now have access to a new world of even more feeble, mediocre and time wasting comments. My mate has missed the bus? I guess there are certain benefits to be had by not having too many friends.

Not A Big Lorry Blog

For some reason (my memory fails to alert me at present. Maybe it will come to me later), I wish to point out that this is NOT a Big Lorry Blog.

Now I've mentioned the subject, however, i feel compelled to show you exactly what I'm referring to.

I'm talking trucks. Big Rigs. 18wheelers, wagons and juggernauts.

England used to produce lorries (before they were called trucks). Here's proof. A 1998 Seddon Atkinson Strato. Gonzo Transport.
More more big lorries, be sure to visit http://www.roadtransport.com/blogs/big-lorry-blog/

What the heck, here's Hellzapoppin'!!!

"A compendium of chaos; a potpourri of pottiness; a veritable vestibule of...well anyway, you get the picture. It's a comedy classic in which Johnson and Olsen preside over the gags, wisecracks and mayhem. A projectionist (Howard) tries to run a film while arguing with his girlfriend, only to have the stars step out and remonstrate with him; a woman with a pot plant wanders in and out of scenes and there is some very odd business with a private eye."

It's been called Pythonesque, and perhaps that's the closest you'll get to an apt enough description.

And I finally added this to my DVD collection, courtesy of BitTorrent.

Gonzo Marketing???

Over the last two days, large amounts of my personal time (I'm referring to my time - not 'time' in the holistic sense) was spent reading Gonzo Marketing by Christopher Locke. I bought the book on amazon because i was curious to see what the chap had to say. I had previously looked up 'Gonzo Marketing' on Google, curious to see what results would throw back at me. I envisaged the term to be a neat fit with the current Guerrilla Marketing crowd - a modernists view on the latest strictly-not-by-the-book marketing practices.

I was right. Even though Locke accuses Hunter Thompson of insulting his readers as part of the qualification for 'Gonzo Journalism' (an accusation refuted by myself, at least with my (reasonable) savvy knowledge of HSTs works), the guy fitted my perception of the term with acute detail in the marketing mix.

Marketing is dead!!! "The end of marketing as we know it ...based on mass-merchandising with little attention to customers needs..."

I concur.

"Gonzo marketing provides a model whereby companies can stop manipulating people as if they were abstract demographic data, and instead create genuine relationships with emergent online communities of interest."

I concur again. This is too good. But hang on a second. You sure as hell are not going to do that by insulting your readers, Locke. Get a grip!

Locke talks tough cheese. He goes on (and on and on...) about micromarkets. I'm not going to go there. Period.
I do however give the guy a 'thumbs up' for being the first to come up with the goods fitting my subject of interest. Even if it is now remaindered on amazon for four quid including delivery, in hardback form.
It's a tough world.

The photo, I'm afraid, doesn't bare resemblance to this piece. I am learning, so bear with me (as opposed to bare with me - where you would - of course, be invited to strip in unison).
At least you have a photo.

London. Waterloo area. Same day as the toilet. How efficient.

This is (not) only a test...

But what better way to test than to dive straight in??? After all, I'm not planning on using this to say 'just testing to see if this works', and leave it alone for the rest of my life.

But i might. I'm sort of forgetful in that regard. That's why i decided to dive straight in. A forced first-time use to avoid the procrastination of the 'i must get blogger to work sometime'. I did after all sign up.

Well now, I've signed up AND written my first comment. How cool is that? I might just try and stick a photo up on there too. That would really push it to the limit.

Ah, sorry to sound all over-excited and energetic and stuff. I've just never done a blog before. I'm more of a YouTube guy. Moving pictures and stuff. Instant gratification. Too lazy to read or write type vibe.

But now I'm here. And it feels good.

So here we are. My first blog post. I wonder if its better than my film-making.

I'll leave you with this photo i took at Waterloo Station. Now how is this supposed to work in the rush hour?
